Hello everyone! We all miss seeing your faces so much right now and hope you are all staying safe, happy and healthy!
I have been doing my best to keep up with (and improve upon) my own healthy habits. I am making a point to move daily and ideally get outside for a walk or a bike ride when I can…more for a mental release honestly than a physical one, that’s just an added bonus. I'm finding myself focus more time on those things that inspire me and am 4 weeks into "The Science of Wellbeing" Course through Yale. It's free and I've loved it so far! If you are curious, the link to access the course is: https://www.coursera.org/learn/the-science-of-well-being .
Lastly, (the first week of isolation excluded), I've been more conscientious of what I'm eating and how I'm fueling my body. I found myself making excuses for bad choices because "these are crazy times", and I'm all for balance, but I also realized that if I make excuses now, there will always be an excuse to be made..."I had a bad week", " I had a great week", "It’s so-and-so's birthday", "it’s a holiday"...it is endless. Being mindful of what I'm eating and drinking doesn't mean I don't indulge, it just means that any indulgence is deliberate and savoured. The truth is, everyone is doing the best we can given the unprecedented events of the world. Showing some love for yourself can go a long way to ride out the storm.
Have compassion for yourself. Sincerely check-in to see if there is anything in your control you can do (or not do) not just through this time of isolation but something that will offer sustainable lifestyle support. Let’s do this, one day-at-a-time. xx
